About the Mehta & McConnell Undergrad Scholarship
The Mehta & McConnell Undergrad Scholarship was created to encourage students to engage with important workplace issues and think critically about how the law impacts individuals and families.
As part of the 2025 scholarship contest, applicants were asked to submit a 200- to 300-word essay discussing the challenges undocumented workers may face after suffering a workplace injury and how laws could better protect them.
The scholarship was open to eligible students living in or attending school in North or South Carolina, including graduating high school seniors and students currently enrolled in college or trade school.
Why This Scholarship Matters
At Mehta & McConnell, we understand that a workplace injury can affect every aspect of a person’s life. For undocumented workers, those challenges are often made more difficult by concerns about immigration status, fear of retaliation, and limited access to reliable information about their legal rights.
This scholarship was created to encourage thoughtful conversations about these issues while supporting students who are committed to learning, advocacy, and creating positive change in their communities.
